Show Your Kitchen Appliances Some Love | They will Return the Favor

Once upon a time maintaining your kitchen appliances was not that important as long as they worked. But appliances have come a long way. Newer appliances are more sophisticated and technologically advanced. This means they need to be used with care so they can always work at optimum performance and last longer. If you show your kitchen appliances some love they will love you in return. With these simple tasks the affection can be mutual:

Re-ignite The Flame With Your Fridge

Contents should be spread out evenly to assure even circulation of cool air. Take a load off your fridge by cleaning the coils. Not only does this keep it running smoothly, but it will also trim your utility bills which will definitely put a smile on your face. To do this you will need to unplug your fridge and remove any dust from the coils. A vacuum can help make this task much easier.

Smell the Love

Enjoy a pleasant smell from your garbage disposal. Never pour grease down your disposal. It causes build up which not only affects how it runs, but it will also remind you of last nights dinner. For an enjoyable smell, drop a handful of ice cubes down your disposal. Follow this with your favorite scent of lemon, lime or orange peels. Turn on the cold water along with your disposal and run both for 15-30 seconds. Rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Loving For Your Oven

Clean your reflectors under your burners. This helps to distribute the heat more evenly which, in turn, makes your stove run more efficiently. Remember, do not run the self cleaning cycle one to two weeks before a big dinner as that is when most ovens tend to fail.

Dishwasher My Darling

Once a month run one cup of white vinegar through an empty cycle to help remove soap scum. You can also run an empty dishwasher through a complete cycle without detergent to clean the walls of your dishwasher. If you don’t know if an item is dishwasher safe then hand wash it. This will prove to be much safer in the long run.

Following these simple tasks will result in a much happier love affair with your kitchen appliances.
